Greetings Everyone and HAPPY SUMMER!

Though I think we had Summer in May and now we're having Spring in June...crazy weather !

In my Spring newsletter I had just returned from the UK where I had just spent two weeks recording with Charles Foskett and I had mentioned that we had just begun this project and that it would probably take most of this year to complete. The reason for that  is that everyone involved in this recording have their own solo careers to attend to and my producer Charles will be heading off to Italy to produce Patty Pravo's next album. Patty is a huge recording artist there having sold over 100 million albums and yes you read that right...over a hundred million...WOW !!! not bad eh ? especially since we in Canada have never heard of her.
Meanwhile I am busy writing, writing and rewriting for this project...Charles is a hard task master but I know it will be worth it in the end.

LIFE AT POPLARS

Spring was wonderful here at Poplars with lots of activity. It was fun to watch the different ducks fly in and out of the pond...this year we had our usual Mallards along with colourful Wood ducks, Mergansers and a pair of Canada Geese Some days it looked so crowded that I think they could have used an air traffic controller and in the middle of all this the Muskrats swam right through them. We also had Bambi and family frequent the pond for a drink and of course the Wild Turkeys were plentiful. We were also surrounded by nesting birds such as our Phoebes who chose above the kitchen and bathroom windows for their homes and a pair of Robins who nested in my Honeysuckle vine. It was also a delight to see a pair of Indigo Buntings who were nesting nearby. Mrs. Raccy finally took her younguns out to teach them how to forage..and me..well..I got my garden planted with tomatoes, squash and green beans and here's hoping it does better than last year because last year was dismal...no squash and only a few tomatoes and beans.

ON THE ROAD

I just returned from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where we played two fabulous shows one in Glace Bay at the Savoy Theatre and the other in Mabou at Strathspey Place.I always love playing the east coast...the people there are amazing...okay..I know what you're thinking..of course I'd say that because I'm from there but the truth is they really are amazing..laid back and over the top friendly. We arrived on the Friday and stayed on the waterfront at the Delta/Sydney where every room had a view of Sydney harbour. We were greeted with fabulous fireworks that were part of a celebration of the Clipper ships being in port. These boats have been racing around the world and were heading back to the UK for their final race. The interesting thing about these boats is that the only professional crew on them was the Captain and the first mate. The rest of the crew was made up of people from all ages and all walks of life and anyone can apply to be part of this incredible adventure. Needless to say I was overjoyed to see these sleek racing machines as I was brought up in a boating family and did a fair bit of yacht racing myself..it brought back many wonderful memories.
This Friday, June 25 we return to Meaford Hall in Meaford, Ontario and then in July back to Gravenhurst. In August we head to Alberta.

Well that's all for now and I do hope all of you have a wonderful Summer,
